We’re thrilled to announce that, this week, Chrisotpher Piccolo joined HEXstream as a utilities industry specialist. Christopher comes to us after a long tenure at Eversource, most recently serving as their manager of grid-modernization technology.

As he settles into his new role, we figured a short Q&A is in order… 

HEXstream: You've been in the utility space for nearly two decades. What attracts you to this field? 

Chris: I've always been drawn to electricity, inspired by many electricians in my family. Working in the utility sector lets me support vital services that power our lives. The ongoing innovations keep me excited and engaged. Plus, focusing on renewable energy allows me to help the environment.

HEXstream: How has energy distribution changed in your tenure? 

Chris: With nearly 20 years of experience, I've witnessed significant changes in energy distribution. When I started, electric meters were read manually, and storm management involved printers endlessly printing outage tickets. Today, we've automated meter reading and have sophisticated outage-management systems, streamlining operations and improving efficiency.

HEXstream: What most excites you about the near future of utility operations?

Chris: Technology! Technology! Technology! The rapid pace of innovation promises to transform the industry in ways we can only imagine. I can't wait to see how these technological developments will enhance efficiency, reliability and sustainability in utility operations. The future looks bright and full of possibilities!

HEXstream: What brings you to HEXstream?

Chris: I have a deep passion for operations and technology. Working for HEXstream will enable me to leverage both of these interests to develop innovative solutions with a strong focus on operational usability.

HEXstream: Tell us a little about yourself. 

Chris: I'm a 44-year-old New Hampshire native, happily married with two talented daughters, ages 16 and 18, who love to dance and perform. As the co-executive producer for the Miss New Hampshire Scholarship Program, I oversee the technical aspects of the production and have been volunteering with the organization for 30 years. For fun, my wife and I enjoy traveling to see live music, especially in the jam band scene. I've seen the band Phish over 100 times!
