About the Client
The Knoxville Utility Board (KUB) provides power to more than 210,000 customers across 688 square miles of Tennessee, relying on 5,400 miles of service lines, 63 substations, and supporting equipment. The American Public Power Association recognizes KUB as a Diamond Level Reliable Public Power Provider because of its high proficiency in reliability, safety, workforce development, and system improvement.
The Brief
KUB wanted to improve their outage-management analytics and bolster their reliability reporting to gain greater insights to, ultimately, mitigate outages.
The Approach
HEXstream implemented their utility-analytics solution—Utility360—that provides deeper insight into KUB’s customers, crews, outages reliability, switching, storms, damage assessment, and events.
The Outcome
As a result of HEXstream’s Utility360 solution, KUB was able to share outage information in real time with estimated TNB restoration times. The utility can now quickly share with all stakeholders information related to planned and unplanned outages along with keeping everyone apprised of estimated restoration times.
SAIFI, SAIDI, CAIDI and CAIFI calculations are now updated real-time, clearly displayed on dashboards and within reports, and the new system enablers KUB staff to track KPIs related to all reliability indices.
Real time outage dashboards enable users to view events and perform real time analysis of outages based on key areas in their customers’ profiles.
